A Tribute to George Harrison of The Beatles

This is a great tribute to George.....being the Beatles fans we are, we could not resist sharing!

A 1930s Video of what the Fashionable Woman will wear in the year 2000

A video in which fashion designers circa the 1930s were asked to design clothing as they predicted it would look in the year 2000. More fun than accurate (”transparent nets to catch males”, “an electric belt will adapt the belt to climatic changes”, “a dress of aluminum”), although their vision of the tie-less, goateed 21st century male — with his portable phone/radio and pockets for “keys, coins, and candy for cuties” — is fairly prescient.

The Amazing Virtual Choir of Eric Whitacre

Eric assembled over 2000 voices (some used multiple times) from over 12 countries via the internet on a choral piece of music  he wrote, mixed the audio and video and produced this amazing video and even more inspiring audio. All singers submitted their voice on-line (some said they did hundreds of takes before sending their submissions to Eric). Could this be the future of music?

How to Measure pant size for men:

To determine your correct pant size, you’ll need to know two measurements: your waist and inseam. Here’s how to find them (using a flexible cloth tape measure):

Know Your Waist & Inseam Measurements

1. Lay your best-fitting pair of pants out flat on a table or bed.
2. Make sure the pants are buttoned or zipped up completely.
3. For Inseam: Measure from the top of the inner pant leg seam (the crotch) to the opening at the bottom of the pant leg.
4. For Waist: Measure the waistband of the pants from the inside. (If you measure the waistband from the outside, its thickness could distort your true size.) If you find this difficult, you can simply measure around your exposed waist where your pant waistband rests.

Note: Always make sure the measuring tape lies flat or snugly against your body or the pants when taking these measurements.

Pant Leg Cuts:

Different pant leg shapes are referred to as "cuts," a term that is governed by the pattern design. The cut generally describes the actual shape of the pants and should be selected to flatter your unique body shape. Pant details like color, pocket placement and other embellishments are important, but they can't disguise a bad cut.

Below is a list of common leg cuts for pants and jeans, together with their descriptions.

• Straight Leg: Pants with a straight, narrow leg that does not flare at the ankle.
• Flared Leg: Pants that are narrow at the knee with an extra-wide flare from calf to ankle.
• Boot Cut: Pants that are cut to skim over the thigh and flare slightly at the lower leg.
• Tapered Leg: Pants that narrow toward the ankle.
• Capri: Pants that end anywhere between the knee and mid-calf.
• Cropped: Pants that end at any length from the mid-calf to the ankle.
• Relaxed Fit: Pants that are relaxed and full from hip to ankle.

How To Measure A Man's Shirt - A WiseSize Tip For Men and Women Who Shop For Them

How To Measure A Shirt Place the tape measure at the base of your neck (where the collar meets the shirt) measure the distance to the point where your buttocks ends and your legs begin. This is the typical length of a dress shirt. Round up your measurement to the nearest full inch.

Stand upright, place the tape measure around your chest where your chest extends the furthest. The tape measure should be flush with your chest, not too loose and not too tight. Add 2 inches to the measurement. Round up your measurement to the nearest full inch.

Place the tape measure around your waist at the part where your waist extends the furthest. Add 2 inches to the measurement this is the waist measurement you will use. Round up your measurement to the nearest full inch.

Place the tape measure around your hips at the part where your hips extend the farthest. Add 2 inches to the measurement. Round up your measurement to the nearest full inch.

Your shoulder measurement is the distance between the outer edges of each shoulder (shoulder seam). Take the measurement and round up your measurement to the nearest half inch.

With your arm remaining straight at your side, and your hand slightly curled, measure the area from the outer edge of your shoulder seam to the first knuckle of your thumb and subtract 1 to 1 1/2" depending on how long you like your Sleeves. Record to the nearest half inch.   NOTE: We use a "tailor's measurement" to get your Sleeve Length, this is your actual length. When you buy an "Off The Rack" shirt in the store your Sleeve Length will be longer because they use a "retail measurement" that includes both your Sleeve Length and half of your Shoulder Length. Do not be alarmed if the Sleeve Length that you give us is 10-12" shorter than your normal (retail) Sleeve Length; it is correct.

Place the tape measure around your neck where the top of the collar goes. The tape measure should be flush with your neck, not too loose and not too tight. If you like the neck on your shirts to fit loose add 1 inch; If you like the neck on your shirts to fit snug, add 1/2 inch. Round up your measurement to the nearest quarter inch.
